Yes, you can! Once you reach the Payment Information section of your online order: select the gift card option located under Payment Type. If you have a physical Gift Card, enter the 19-digit number located on the back of the Gift Card. Scratch off the back of the Gift Card to locate the PIN number. If you have chosen an E-Gift card, the Serial number and the PIN number are located in TWO auto-generated emails that are sent to you after purchasing the E-Gift Card. You will also be asked for Credit Card information as well. The Gift Card will be applied to the purchase first and the Credit Card will then be used to cover any additional charges beyond the value of the Gift Card.
When placing an order, an authorization hold for $1.00 will take place on your card. We will only charge you for what items we actually process for your order. If an item is back-ordered, you won't be charged until that item arrives. This may mean that your order is processed in multiple shipments.
Rental FAQs
Textbook rentals allow students to rent their textbooks from the University Store (as opposed to buying them) for a specified term. It is a cost-effective and useful option for students who do not anticipate keeping their books, as well as for students who prefer to not go through the process of selling books back at the end of the term.
All textbooks (with the exception of Workbooks, TUPC’s, Aplia’s and Access Codes) are rentable. When you enter your course information into the University Store’s website, there will be a rental option listed if a rented book is available for your class. Supplemental materials are not guaranteed with rentals (access codes, DVDs, workbooks).
In store, we accept all forms of payment including One Card (RETAIL POINTS ONLY), Gift Cards, Major Credit Cards, Check and Cash. Major Credit Cards and Gift Cards are accepted online at
towsonustore.com.
Books are rented for ONE TERM's (semester) use. If you are in a multiple term course and want to rent that title, you would need to rent the book each term.
Normal use of highlighting and writing is permitted. The bookstore will use the same standards for determining acceptable condition of rental textbooks that it uses for determining condition of books sold back as used books.
Rental textbooks can be returned to the University Store any time during the semester the textbooks were obtained. Rental books are due the last day of Final Exams for the term in which they were rentedRental books are due the last day of Final Exams for the term in which they were rented -- unless otherwise stated.
If you do not return your rental books by the deadline, you will be charged the full replacement value of the book plus a $15 non-refundable late fee. This replacement cost and late fee will be in addition to the rental fee paid when the book was rented.
Rental textbooks must be returned to a University Store cashier or mailed back to us by the deadline.
Yes. The refund policy is the same as returning regular books. They must be in saleable condition. Of course you must have your receipt and return the textbook in good condition along with any components such as CDs, etc. that were included with the textbook when you rented it. If you are returning your book for a refund via mail, it must be postmarked within the return period.
Rental textbooks will be inspected by University Store staff to confirm that only normal wear and tear has occurred. Torn covers, missing pages, excessive highlighting or writing, water damage, etc. may result in additional fees -- to be determined by University Store staff. If excessive damage has occurred, the textbook may not be accepted and the student will be charged the full purchase price of a new replacement textbook.
We accept rental returns through the mail providing they are post-marked by the due date. For rental returns please ship to:

Textbook FAQs
The University Store has the most up-to-date, accurate information directly from the faculty which means that you get the RIGHT BOOK for your class. You also benefit from the CONVENIENCE of on-campus shopping and the opportunity to buy all of your books at the same time. Since the University Store is owned and operated by Towson University, all of the money spent in the store goes back into the University to directly benefit you.
The instructor of the course determines the specific required and recommended textbooks for the course. Instructors are responsible for providing the book information to the University Store Textbook Department by an established deadline so that the books are on the shelves when the semester begins.
Textbooks can be purchased or rented both in-store or online.
Your Course Schedule is the key to identifying the textbooks that are needed for each class -- whether you shop in the store or online. Please bring your course schedule with you to the store because it contains the course and section numbers that are needed to identify the required textbooks. Textbooks are no longer on the sales floor, so you must visit the Valet desk for our staff to assist you with obtaining your books.
It is best to order textbooks as soon as you receive your schedule. The sooner an order is placed, the better the availability of the books.
We do not currently *hold* textbooks upon request. Please either place an online order or shop in-store.
Yes, USED books are available. They sell quickly, so please shop early for best availability.

You also have the option of receiving a store credit. For dropped classes, textbooks may be returned within the first four weeks* of classes. In addition to the criteria listed above, the "drop" will be verified online. *For the actual date of textbook refund deadlines for the current semester, check the message on your cash register sales receipt or the "
